The Binghamton Mets knocked off the Akron RubberDucks, 9-2, in Eastern League action at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton pitcher and Baywood-Los Osos, California, native Rudy Alexander had an outstanding performance. Binghamton now has a record of 67-66 with the win.

The RubberDucks had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Mets going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old right fielder Rob Elliott came to the plate. Elliott hit a bases-clearing double on a 0-2 fastball from Akron hurler José Fierro. It was Elliott's 27th double of the year.

"We took it on the chin tonight," said losing manager Keith Johnson.
