Arrows Pull Off Thrilling 4-2 Win in Extras
|
The Indianapolis Arrows had to overcome a fine effort from Charlotte pitcher António Fernández to win, 4-2, in 10 innings at BB&T Stadium. Fernández went 9 innings and allowed 2 runs. Jeff Gordon, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-1. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 11 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Jerry Jones finished the game for Indianapolis and earned his 7th save.
Bob Dawson came through with a big-time hit for Indianapolis. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Dawson called the win "a collective effort."
The victory gives the Arrows a record of 19-14.
