Guardians Defeated by Brewers, 6-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the ACL Guardians and ACL Brewers get after it.
Due in large part to second baseman Jim Jenkins, the ACL Brewers sunk the ACL Guardians, 6-1. Jenkins went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. José Flores, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 2. Stephen Chitty closed the door for ACL, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Jenkins contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for ACL in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Jenkins took a fastball from Ron Hatfield and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Brewers to leap in front, 2-1.
"I thought we played a nice game," Jenkins told the ACL Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The win gives the Brewers a record of 8-18.
