Cubs Suffer One-Run Loss at ACL
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the ACL Cubs and ACL Guardians get after it.
The ACL Guardians topped the ACL Cubs, 5-4, in Arizona Complex League action at Chain of Lakes Park. The standout performance belonged to ACL pitcher and DeSoto, Texas, native José Armixo. Armixo yielded 2 runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-1.
The Guardians got a big boost from catcher Doug Gary who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Cubs hurler Phil Hankins. It was his 23rd RBI of the season and put ACL on top, 1-0.
ACL manager Kevin Randel commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The Guardians have an impressive 16-10 record.
