Montgomery Tacks 6-4 Loss on Mobile
|
With catcher Rocky Smith leading the charge, the Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Mobile BayBears, 6-4, at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. Smith, the 13th overall pick in the 2021 draft, was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Juan Rodríguez earned the win to go to 3-0. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. The save was credited to Josh Cox, his 2nd.
Smith had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Ben Williams, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Biscuits a 5-4 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Smith.
"We take it day by day here," said Smith, "and today was a good one for us."
The victory makes Montgomery 5-6.
