Flying Squirrels Suffer 4-1 Road Loss
|
Harrisburg Senators starter Steve Strouse pitched a strong game against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at Metro Bank Park, leading the Senators to victory, 4-1. Strouse, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Michal Bauerewski was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
The Flying Squirrels had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Senators going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop Dan Mason came to the plate. Mason hit a 3-run home run on a 2-0 fastball from Richmond hurler Jimmy Tirney. It was Mason's 1st home run of the year.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Strouse.
Richmond, with the loss, is 6-4.
