Barons Snag 6-3 Win
The 6-3 Birmingham win over Mississippi was due largely to Juan Fernández. The Barons second baseman was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Jeff Jones earned the save, his 5th. The win lifts Birmingham to a record of 10-12.

Fernández had a game-changing double in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 cutter from Dan Jackson, he banged a 2-run double to right-center, giving the Barons a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st double of the year for Fernández.

Fernández told the Birmingham Citizen: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
