The Tennessee Smokies beat the Montgomery Biscuits, 6-5, in part because of designated hitter Matt Blagdon. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Virgil Adams, 1-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. The loss drops Montgomery to 11-13.

The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Blagdon. Facing Dan Collins with the bases loaded, the Tennessee designated hitter had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Game over, walk-off style!
