Jackson Downs Birmingham, 4-3
|
Generals designated hitter Jim Kilmister left his imprint on his team's 4-3 win over the Birmingham Barons. Kilmister was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Jackson in the contest. The win belonged to Andy Ashley in relief. His record improves to 2-0. José Vargas took the loss for Birmingham. The win puts Jackson at 19-13 this season.
Had Kilmister not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Kilmister hit a 2-run single. The Generals took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.
Kilmister expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
