The Mobile BayBears picked up a win at Smokies Park, knocking off the Tennessee Smokies, 7-2. Starting pitcher Jeff Ayers played a key role in the triumph. The BayBears bumped their record to 18-15 with this latest triumph.

It could have been a different outcome for Mobile, had it not been for P.J. Cunningham, the 24-year old center fielder . Cunningham contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Mobile up, 2-0.

Said losing manager Kevin Riggs: "Give the BayBears credit. They played a better game than we did."
