Xavier Martínez had a strong outing for the Biloxi Shuckers against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Five County Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 15-1 win. Martínez yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-2. Biloxi now sits at 14-21, while Pensacola falls to 22-13.

The Shuckers got a big hit from left fielder Ed Washington. Facing Pensacola pitcher Tex Cole in the top of the fifth, Washington pounded a grand slam home run to center. His 3rd home run of the season put the Shuckers ahead, 13-0.
