Mobile second baseman Tommy Carveth made his presence felt in the 4-3 BayBears triumph over the Tennessee Smokies. Carveth went 3-3 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. César Méndez closed out the game, earning his 8th save. The Smokies, now 16-21, have lost 4 straight.

Carveth had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Randy Byrd, he banged a run-scoring triple to right-center, giving the BayBears a 4-3 lead. It was the 1st triple of the year for Carveth.

Carveth told the Mobile Today: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
