With center fielder Ron Park leading the charge, the Jacksonville Suns defeated the Mississippi Firebirds, 8-7, at Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Park, who is rated as the 68th best prospect by BNN, was 2-4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 5 runs. Robinson Santana earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 5 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The Suns, at 23-14, lead by one game in their division.

Jacksonville took the lead, 8-7, on Jeff Abbott's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Mississippi pitcher Jamie Monroe in the bottom of the seventh.
