Hammers Score Late to Beat Biscuits, 4-3
|
Mississippi and Montgomery took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Mississippi Hammers grabbed a win, 4-3, over the Montgomery Biscuits at Trustmark Park. Mississippi third baseman José Rúbio went 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. Mississippi reliever Don St. John picked up the win to move to 2-2. Dan Collins suffered the loss. Esteban Soto earned the save for Mississippi, his 11th of the year.
Joe Powers contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. His at-bat helped Mississippi get the win.
Mississippi manager Chris Herrmann commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
