Tight Tilt Goes to Blue Wahoos, 2-1
|
Pensacola turned a good performance from starting pitcher Ben Carpenter into a 2-1 triumph over the Birmingham Barons at Regions Park. The winning pitcher was Carpenter, now 2-4. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 8. With this game in the books, Pensacola is 18-25, Birmingham 22-21.
Cristo Muñíz, who is tied for 8th in the SL in RBI with 23, had a direct impact on the outcome. Muñíz contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Pensacola up, 2-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Blue Wahoos manager Chad Allen, "I like our chances."
