The Biloxi Shuckers got a stellar effort from pitcher Berto Amoyo, helping Biloxi score a win over the visiting Jacksonville Suns, 4-0. The winning pitcher was Amoyo, now 2-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 8. Getting the save was Ken Featherstone, his 3rd.

The Shuckers got a big at-bat from third baseman Ernie Brewster. For the game, Brewster was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Biloxi a 2-0 lead.

"It's no secret that good defense follows around people who throw strikes," said Biloxi manager Michael Barrett.

The Shuckers improved their record to 10-35 by beating Jacksonville.
