The Chattanooga Lookouts rode a solid performance from 22-year-old starting pitcher Tim Edwards to a win, beating the Mobile BayBears, 4-2, at Hank Aaron Stadium. Chattanooga pitcher Dave Fleming got the win, upping his record to 3-1. Alfredo Gómez got the loss. The defeat makes Mobile 21-23.

Had Bob Dyer not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Dyer hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Lookouts.

"Tim did a good job keeping the game under control," said Chattanooga manager Mike Johns.
