Skidding Shuckers Lose 7th Straight
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Mississippi Firebirds and Biloxi Shuckers.

The Mississippi Firebirds picked up a win at Trustmark Park, topping the Biloxi Shuckers, 6-5. On the mound for Mississippi was right-hander T.J. Crane. He played a principal role in the triumph. Juan Martínez got credit for the save for Mississippi. It was his 13th of the year.

Elton Burton, who is tied for 9th in the SL in home runs with 5, took Biloxi hurler Lúcio Pérez deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Firebirds on top, 6-3. In all, Burton had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I'm happy we won," said Crane. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."

Biloxi has now lost 7 consecutive games.
