Moreno Helps Montgomery Cruise to 11-3 Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Mobile BayBears and Montgomery Biscuits get after it.
The Montgomery Biscuits had no problem beating the Mobile BayBears, 11-3, at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. Daniel Moreno led the onslaught. He went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for Montgomery. Ed Alexander earned the win to go to 2-4. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, with 4 walks and 8 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Earning his 1st save for Montgomery was Mike Gaines.
Rob Gill had a big run-scoring triple for the Biscuits in the bottom of the second inning. With Montgomery leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Jeff Ayers and swatted a triple to center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Biscuits ahead, 3-1.
Moreno told a Montgomery News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The Biscuits go to 17-31 with the win.
