Fisher Cats Slap 6-1 Loss on Richmond
The 2026 season began for the Richmond Flying Squirrels with a loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. The final score was 6-1. New Hampshire pitcher Raúl Sánchez had a fine performance. Don Jones earned the save for New Hampshire.

New Hampshire used the timely hitting of Phil Norris to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Fisher Cats on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but he made it count.

Sánchez attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
