The Tennessee Smokies defeated the Biloxi Shuckers, 12-6, in 10 innings. Steve Keddy played a big role. Keddy was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Smokies in the win. Bob Johnstone snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-6 on the season. Ken Featherstone suffered the loss. The Smokies have now won 4 straight.

Tennessee used a timely hit from Jorge Cortéz to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Smokies ahead, 8-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

In postgame remarks, Cortéz said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
