The Tennessee Smokies electrified the crowd with a walk-off win.

Birmingham got a big-time effort from pitcher Carlos Bennett, but it wasn't enough to keep the Tennessee Smokies from winning the game, 1-0. Bennett threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win went to Jeremy Olsen in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Jeff Jones took the loss.

The Smokies got a clutch hit from designated hitter Ángelo Pimentel. In the bottom of the ninth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Smokies.

"It's no secret that good defense follows around people who throw strikes," said Tennessee manager Kevin Riggs.

The Smokies sport a record of 35-51.
