Barons Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Carlos Bennett was locked in. The right-hander led the Birmingham Barons to a 2-1 win against the Mississippi Firebirds at Regions Park. The loss makes Mississippi 57-34.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Barons had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman José Alfonso hit a 2-run single. The single came off Steve Preston and made the score 2-1, Barons. Alfonso was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
Alfonso called the win "an overall solid one."
