Losing Streak Continues for Smokies with 10-2 Loss to Hammers
Mississippi pitcher Dave Phillips had a large part in his team beating the Tennessee Smokies, 10-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Tennessee, at 40-62, has lost 8 straight.

Beau Carson had a big 2-run double for the Hammers in the bottom of the second inning. With Mississippi leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Brad Faulkner and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hammers ahead, 4-0.

Tennessee manager Kevin Riggs called the blowout loss "ugly."
