Shuckers Lose By a Run at Pensacola
2026 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Biloxi Shuckers.

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos defeated the Biloxi Shuckers, 5-4, at Five County Stadium. Pensacola was led by 27-year old left fielder Jon Welch, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Pensacola is 52-61 and Biloxi, with the loss, 42-71.

With Pensacola leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Welch hit a fastball from Cedric Lee for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Blue Wahoos ahead, 4-0.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Welch told the Pensacola Citizen. "You win just by scoring more runs."
