Tennessee Smokies starter Willie Johnson pitched a strong game against the Jackson Generals at Smokies Park, leading the Smokies to victory, 3-2. Tennessee reliever Jerry Jennings picked up the win, raising his record to 1-2. Mike Briddon was tagged with the loss. The Smokies improved their record to 46-73 by beating Jackson.

Mike Allen was the walk-off hero for Tennessee. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Smokies first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Willie is a gamer," said Tennessee manager Kevin Riggs.
