The Biloxi Shuckers could not turn a fine performance from third baseman Ernie Brewster into a win. Instead, the Chattanooga Lookouts prevailed, 9-8. Brewster went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Bernardo Quintela got the win, improving to 9-9. He held the Shuckers to 3 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. Lou Plummer closed out the game, earning his 29th save.

Luis Espinoza went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Chattanooga. The 23-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ron Sargent. It was his 36th walk of the season.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Biloxi manager Michael Barrett.

The Lookouts improved their record to 54-68 with the win over Biloxi.
