BayBears Earn 3-2 Home Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Mobile BayBears and the Birmingham Barons, 23-year old left-handed pitcher Bob Weaver proved to be the difference. The Mobile left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 BayBears win. The win went to Milo Svela in relief, making him now 9-5. Raúl Muñíz took the loss for Birmingham. Earning his 10th save for Mobile was Hank Wilson.
Had Luis Sánchez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Sánchez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the BayBears.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Weaver. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
The BayBears now have a record of 58-68 with the win over Birmingham.
