Generals Take Down Hammers, 8-5
The Mississippi Hammers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dave Phillips into a win. Instead, the Jackson Generals prevailed, 8-5. Phillips threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The first-place Generals, at 74-55, now lead their division by 6 games.

Bill McKee came through with a big-time hit for Jackson. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 8-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," McKee told the Jackson Times.
