Cardinals Resilient in 2-1 Win Over Frisco
The Springfield Cardinals did just enough to sneak past the Frisco RoughRiders, 2-1, at Hammons Field. Springfield pitcher Mario Rodríguez, in particular, had a standout performance. The Cardinals, now 2-0, have stormed out of the gates.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old right fielder Hugh Green had a chance to be the hero. Frisco pitcher Joe Hicks wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Green hit a sacrifice fly. The Cardinals had themselves a thrilling win.

"Good ballgame," said Frisco manager Mike Breyman. "But we came up on the short end."
