Spirited fans greeted the Springfield Cardinals for their clash with the Arkansas Travelers.

The bat of Eric Scales helped the Arkansas Travelers top the Springfield Cardinals, 9-5. Scales was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Arkansas. Arkansas pitcher Adrián Pérez earned the win, hiking his record to 2-0. Mike Cleveland suffered the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Tommy Caine came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Springfield pitcher Mike Cleveland, he hit a 0-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Arkansas on top, 6-5.

"I was hoping to make good contact," said Caine. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."

The Travelers, now 11-3, have been on fire in the early going.
