In the 4-2 Springfield win over Tulsa, the impact of Hugh Green was substantial. Green, who is tied for 7th in the TEX in stolen bases with 1, was 3-4 with 3 singles. Springfield reliever José Bruno snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Touki Toussaint shouldered the loss. Dan Hoover closed the door for Springfield, picking up his 4th save of the year.
Springfield third baseman Bert Wemp contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 15th hit of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 3-0.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Green.
Tulsa is now 12-6.
