With Late Score, Travelers Beat Naturals
|
Arkansas got a strong outing from Robby Ford as the Travelers defeated the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, 2-1, at Arvest Ballpark. The win was credited to 24-year old left-handed pitcher Augusto Sánchez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Juan Mata took the loss. Mike Wolf closed the door for Arkansas, picking up his 6th save of the year.
Arkansas used the timely hitting of Jim Taylor to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Travelers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough loss," said Northwest Arkansas manager Steve Falteisek. "This one will sting for a while."
The Travelers, now 13-5, have been red hot.
