Fans watched the Midland RockHounds and the Corpus Christi Hooks fight to the finish.
The Midland RockHounds topped the Corpus Christi Hooks, 4-3, in Texas League action at Security Bank Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Midland pitcher Dani Mendoza. The win went to António Salazar in relief, making him now 1-1. Ed Ferrell took the loss for Corpus Christi.
Had Max Owens not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Owens hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the RockHounds.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Mendoza.
The third-place RockHounds own a record of 14-26.
