The Tulsa Drillers got a sterling performance from right fielder Ron Evans, but the Springfield Cardinals still prevailed, 8-4. Evans went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Raúl Martínez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Springfield is now 28-16, while Tulsa is 26-18.
Ed Evans had a big 2-run double for the Cardinals in the top of the third inning. With Springfield leading 4-2 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Tynan Ford and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 6-2.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Evans.
