It's a No-No for Lynch
|
Midland RockHounds starter Joe Lynch said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move.
"I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Lynch recalled.
The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career.
The Midland right-hander no-hit the Arkansas Travelers, 2-0, at Dickey-Stephens Park, finishing with 1 walks and 10 strikeouts, facing only 28 batters.
"I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Lynch admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too."
In no relief appearances this season, Lynch has no saves. He has 6 wins and 1 loss, 1.79 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.
