The Corpus Christi Hooks faced a tough opponent in Midland pitcher Nacho Romero, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Security Bank Ballpark by a final score of 4-3 in 13 innings. Romero went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. The save was credited to Ken Cunningham, his 12th. The second-place Hooks now have a win-loss record of 37-27.

Deron Higgins had a direct impact on the outcome. Higgins contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 13th inning to put Corpus Christi up, 4-3.

After the game, Corpus Christi manager Alex Gordon applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
