The Arkansas Travelers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Tulsa designated hitter Manny Marrero by beating the Drillers, 4-3, at ONEOK Field. Marrero was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Leon Thompson earned the save for Arkansas, his 13th. The win lifted the Arkansas record to 40-25.
Jim Taylor came through with a big-time hit for Arkansas. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Arkansas manager Mike Redmond. "It's usually not just one thing."
