Yajirobei Hirayama, who is tied for 9th in the TEX with a 9.1 K/9 rate, was locked in. The right-hander led the Midland RockHounds to a 4-3 win against the San Antonio Missions at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. The winning pitcher was Hirayama, now 4-5. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7. Midland has won 3 straight, while San Antonio has lost 4 in a row.

Midland used the timely hitting of Tony Rivera to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the RockHounds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Hirayama.
