San Antonio second baseman José Salinas was a significant contributor in his team's 5-2 triumph over the Corpus Christi Hooks. He hit 2 home runs for the Missions. Steve Grady, the winner, improved to 3-6. He held the Hooks to 2 runs on 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. José Rocha was called on to finish, recording his 11th save.
Steve Szkutnik dealt the Hooks a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and San Antonio leading 1-0, Szkutnik, who is tied for 8th in the TEX in stolen bases with 9, hit a 1-2 sinker for a run-scoring single.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said San Antonio manager Nick Vincent. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Missions go to 27-45 with the win.
