The Corpus Christi Hooks did just enough to sneak past the San Antonio Missions, 4-3, at Whataburger Field. Corpus Christi pitcher Domingas Posser, in particular, had a standout performance. Posser, the winner, moves to 6-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. By defeating San Antonio, the second-place Hooks improved to 43-33.
Corpus Christi first baseman Deron Higgins contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Hooks ahead, 4-0.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Higgins.
