Corpus Christi second baseman Augusto Valentín contributed significantly to his team's 9-0 win over the Frisco RoughRiders. Valentín, who is tied for 3rd in the TEX in home runs with 16, went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Hooks. Jimmy Rollins Jr. was the winner. He's now 8-6. The loser was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge Santiago. Corpus Christi, at 57-46, is 5 games up in the South Division.

With Corpus Christi leading 5-0 in the top of the eighth, Valentín came up to bat against Frisco pitcher Manny Sánchez. Valentín hit a fastball to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 16th home run of the season put the Hooks on top, 9-0.

"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Mike Breyman.
