The San Jose Giants opened their 2026 season with a disappointing 8-4 loss to the Visalia Rawhide at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Catcher Chad Williams was a big part of the win for Visalia. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jarred Thirkell, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 4 innings.

Jesús García provided a timely hit. The Visalia designated hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rawhide on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said García.
