Led by Bill McKee, the Bakersfield Blaze defeated the Visalia Rawhide, 14-2. McKee went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Blaze. Bakersfield reliever Stan Miller picked up the win to move to 2-0. Bobby Wagner suffered the loss. The win brings the Blaze to 8-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

Had McKee not come through in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, McKee hit a run-scoring single. The Blaze never looked back after taking the 3-2 lead.
