Nuts Win, 5-0, at Rancho Cucamonga

The Modesto Nuts knocked off the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 5-0, in California League action at LoanMart Field. Modesto pitcher and Centennial, Colorado, native Steve Jensen had an outstanding performance. Jensen yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-1. The Quakes, now 5-10, continue their poor start.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bob Edmonds? The Modesto shortstop had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Nuts on top, 1-0. For the game, Edmonds had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Edmonds said.
