Blaze Dealt 4-1 Home Loss
|
The High Desert Mavericks defeated the Bakersfield Blaze, 4-1, in part because of designated hitter Tony Anderson. Anderson went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Mavericks. High Desert reliever Gil Burns snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Stan Valentine shouldered the loss. The win puts High Desert at 8-8.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the top of the fifth, Anderson had a key at-bat for High Desert. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Anderson hit a run-scoring single off Stan Valentine, making the score 2-1, Mavericks.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Anderson.
