Nuts Lose to Quakes, 4-1
|
Julián Segura imposed his will on the Nuts from the get-go. Relying mainly on his circle change, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Rancho Cucamonga triumph. Segura got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Ken Smith picked up the save, his 2nd.
The Quakes had to work out of trouble in the top of the sixth. The score was 4-1, Rancho Cucamonga, with two out. Modesto, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, was mounting a threat. Ed Alston dug in at the plate, but on a full count fastball, he struck out.
The Nuts are now 7-11.
