4-1 Loss Deepens Lake Elsinore Funk

The 2026 season is going from bad to worse for Lake Elsinore.
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes picked up a win at LoanMart Field, dropping the Lake Elsinore Storm, 4-1. Joe James was the difference-maker. The winner was James. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Dan Broadley. Ken Smith was credited with the save for Rancho Cucamonga, his 4th of the season.
Making an impact for Rancho Cucamonga was left fielder Butch Patterson. He drilled a double off Dan Broadley in the bottom of the third. For the game, Patterson was 1 for 4 with a double.
Afterward, Lake Elsinore manager Chris Greene said: "We've hit a rough patch."
Lake Elsinore, at 5-17, is off to a poor start in 2026.
