The San Jose Giants snuck past the Stockton Ports, 5-4, in 10 innings. San Jose pitcher Don Davis, in particular, had a standout performance. Pete Bryan snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Clarence Capulin suffered the loss. The win gives San Jose a record of 16-11.

The Giants got a clutch hit from right fielder Edmund Richards. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Giants.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Davis said.
