The 66ers earned a hard-fought, 5-2 win in 10 innings at San Jose Municipal Stadium. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from San Jose pitcher Dan Groves. Groves went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. With the win over San Jose, the 66ers improved to 15-16.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Darryl Palácios? The 22-year old catcher Palácios stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Inland Empire up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.

"This was a tremendous character win for our team," said Inland Empire manager Kent Matthes.
